Remove unwanted attachments that clog up
your Cherwell database and blacklist those
that should never be there

AttachmentManager can drastically reduce the size of your Cherwell Service Management database and the size of any associated backups, together with increasing the performance of your system.

The Cherwell Email and Event Monitor feature allows automated creation and updating of records via email, including the attachment of any files attached or embedded within emails. Although it provides functionality to restrict the type or size of files that are attached, it falls short in terms of allowing specific files to be restricted and/or removed.

AttachmentManager features

  • Attachment Preview
Users can view the content of attachments within the AttachmentManager preview window without the need to launch the documents themselves.
  • Blacklist Existing Attachments
Documents already linked to Cherwell records can be marked as “blacklisted” in AttachmentManager resulting in every instance of the document being automatically removed from the database. If further instances of blacklisted files are attached at any point in the future, they are also automatically removed.
  • Blacklist Common Files
It is also possible to browse out to commonly used files and blacklist them to ensure that the Cherwell database isn’t populated with hundreds of identical copies of commonly used files such as company logos or images from company email footers.

AttachmentManager benefits

  • Continuous Optimisation
AttachmentManager will automatically remove any unwanted files from Cherwell ensuring that the database isn’t bloated with thousands of unnecessary files, and the performance of file searches within Cherwell is as fast as possible.
  • Ease of Administration
AttachmentManager is launched and administered directly from the Cherwell Service Management Windows client.
