Deprecation of Basic Authentication in Exchange Online

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION**
FOR HALO ITSM USERS

As you may already be aware, Microsoft will stop allowing Exchange Online users to use basic authentication on October 1st, 2022.

POP, IMAP, Remote PowerShell, Exchange Web Services (EWS), Offline Address Book (OAB), Outlook for Windows, and Outlook for Mac are all impacted by this. Additionally, SMTP AUTH will be disabled in all tenants where it’s not in use.

Customers must switch from using apps that utilise basic authentication to apps that use modern authentication as a result of this decision. This modification is being made in order to improve security and subsequently secure your data.

More information on this from Microsoft can be read here.

This change affects Halo users who use POP3, EWS, and IMAP connections to exchange online and Microsoft services.

We recommend that you reconfigure your mail as Azure, which you can learn more about how to do by clicking the button below.
